Exactly, and this is another reason why I think most of the original culture and tradition was lost. Serbs were frontiersmen for both sides. Croats were just for Austrohungarians but still such life changed the cultural pattern. What you have right now is altered, romanticized version of medieval history of Serbia/Croatia/Bosnia/Bulgaria/Greece etc. That doesn't mean its fabricated but that the facts were twisted and were given different meaning. Its not like any of these nations managed to avoid it because they are new.

Original culture would be changed without any occupation as well. It is "natural" process.
And based culture is saved. South Slavs, especially Serbs saved even a lot of Slavic Pagan culture.

Depends. Raška was core of Serbia during Nemanjić dynasty, also during their rule Kosovo became culturally important. Before that Raška was of equal importance as Duklja.
