Vier Nederlandse oud-SS'ers die een uitkering krijgen van de Duitse staat omdat ze gewond raakten in de Tweede Wereldoorlog, mogen hun uitkering behouden. Dat zij zich vrijwillig aan hebben gemeld bij de SS is niet genoeg reden om de uitkering in te trekken, meldt het Landschaftsverband Rheinland (LVR), de Duitse instantie die verantwoordelijk is voor de pensioenen.

In totaal hebben 34 mensen in Nederland recht op een Duitse toelage uit een potje voor mensen die gewond zijn geraakt tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog. Het gaat met name om nabestaanden of om Duitse staatsburgers die in Nederland wonen. Zij krijgen hun uitkering op basis van het zogenoemde Bundesversorgungsgesetz. De wet zorgt ervoor dat Duitse oorlogsslachtoffers worden betaald, maar ook SS'ers uit andere landen krijgen op basis ervan dus maandelijkse betalingen.


Misdaden tegen de menselijkheid
Naar aanleiding van mediaberichten, onder meer bij EenVandaag en de NOS, heeft de Duitse uitkeringsinstantie de ontvangers opnieuw tegen het licht gehouden. Onder de 34 inwoners van Nederland die recht hebben op een uitkering, zijn zes Nederlandse oud-SS'ers.
Bij hen is gekeken of er aanwijzingen te vinden waren of ze misdaden tegen de menselijkheid hebben begaan. Alleen als dat het geval is, mag hun uitkering worden ingetrokken. Dat onderzoek werd onder meer gedaan aan de hand van lijsten die in het Duitse nationaal archief worden bijgehouden en informatie van het Simon Wiesenthal Centrum.

Verblijfplaats onbekend
Volgens het LVR is er bij vier van de zes geen aanwijzing gevonden dat ze in de oorlog zulke misdaden hebben begaan. Zij mogen hun pensioen dus houden.
Het onderzoek naar een Nederlander die zich vrijwillig bij de SS aansloot, loopt nog. Van de zesde oud-SS'er is de verblijfplaats niet bekend. Daarom ontvangt hij al langer geen uitkering meer.

Not from the Netherlands.. but from Germany. Most of those of those 34 recipients are Dutch widows (so traitors) of German soldiers and Germans themselves. 6 of those are Dutch who had served in the German SS during the war. In principle, this is only given to 5 of those as the whereabouts of number 6 are unknown. Apparently they base themselves on the German Bundesversorgungsgesetz and this has nothing to do with the Dutch authorities, who are, unfortunately, not in the legal position to put a stop to this.

But not from the Dutch government: after all.. these people served the enemy. I don't think they even receive the so-called AOW (like a state pension for all elderly) because they very likely lost their citizenship since Dutch law states that whoever serves in a foreign army, is no longer a Dutch citizen and if they are German citizens, they can freely move into the Netherlands (if they have served their time, that is).
