Why do many Saami look white even though they are not

Many if not most really are white and indistinguishable from regular Scandinavians, but they're a mixed bunch.

They appear to be genetically distinct from Europeans. Maybe there are heterogeneous origins.

As far as I know there are hardly any samples and taking an average to represent them wouldn't be useful due to their heterogeneity.

The ones which I've seen score similar to Chuvash.

It depends on where you draw the boundary between Asia and Europe. Because people start to look more 'Asiatic' as one goes eastwards from Scandinavia into Asia.

Would you say that this Saami is 'white'?

Samis have migrated to North at least from 2 different starting points (joined together somewhere). Their women are said to be originally bit more ''western'' than men (haplogroups).
