It it is diffcult to find information especially specific numbers of immigrants. You are right the older immigration has many more decesdants. Who knows how many actual germans where In the colonial time period. Even if it is not at 5 million decedants hypothetically speaking, the Mennonites would get to that number soon enough(due to high birth rates).

Idk if there are any records of the 1820's-1840's regarding the original German wave of immigrants, I have looked but I don't think they exist. to put it in perspective. Mexico had about 15,000,000-20,000,000 in 1910 and has over 100,000,000 today, even if you took the declining wave of immigrants from the 1850-1870's compared to Mexico's population growth, if those 100,000 had 3 kids every generation until now, they would still be over 1,000,000 today, the math does seem shocking but it does work out.

Doesn't seem like much.

That's because the vast majority of German Mexicans assimilated they don't live in German villages etc. They are just Mexicans now.

This is all the registros/records that I could find (With good sources) so I am sure would be more european people here registred (but I said, I don't have that registros/records)...and I am not counting the illegals that came here because we don't know the quantity
