Default Europe Hair and Eye Colour Lit Review (cool)

    - Brits do appear to be more blue eyed than Germans, significantly so if you remove the outlier study (British outlier was only Scottish people and had a smaller sample)
    - Sometimes they include light Brown+Blonde for the blond category, and sometimes just blonde, this means you get Britain having one study with 20% blondes (blondes only) and one with 56% blonde (blonde+light brown).... and they combined these results which is obviously silly.
-Slovenia appears very blue eyed, on par with Germany

overall an interesting read but it is hard to compare with the varying methodologies and categories they use

30% of brown eyes for Slovenia is correct, rest is blue, gray, green and light-mixed. Ethnic Slovenes are lighter eyed than French and Hungarian people (according to this than Ukrainians too)

In Slovene side of my family there was no person with brown eyes.

That study is unreliable. I say this due to the fact that, it relied on not very satisfactory old anthropological results. The German sample is too old and was based on school children ( who usually are indeed a lot fairer-haired than adults). There was no "unified" scale for all to determine blondism or eye color and will lead others in error. Yes we already know that blue is the most common eye color in Northern Europe. In Britain it is 48% ( Blue Eye project, ScotlandDNA project 2014), according this relatively recent study, Scotland is roughly as blue-eyed the Kingdom of Denmark.

Yeah that's just a summiration of studies done so fat. They don't use the same standards. Eye color for Germany is obviously from Virchow and Slovenia from that very recent study. Slovenia isn't more blue eyed than Germany, Virchow's definition of blue was more narrow than in the Slovenia study.

They only reference a total of 23 studies for 15 countries (over almost 150 years). It's amusing how a amateur enthusiast like me can have more studies than these professional researchers.

On that note, aspects of the Slovenians. Most of the individuals in the intermediate category had "brown-mixed" irises, taking this into account it will add up to 56% light-eyed. This is similar to many Central European populations ( Austria, Switzerland,etc...). However it will not be more light-eyed than Germany.

That is correct. Btw. Switzerland is at 59% according to Kollman.
