Italian members,how do you think about Spartacus?

How do you think the one of greatest enemies of your ancestors(I've heard Spartacus was one of the greatest enemy of Romans)?Do you still consider him as a criminal/thug just as the ancient and Medieval times did?Or would you condern/shame ancient Roman slavery?Or other?
And Spartaco had been an Italian name https://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spartaco_(nome) So do Italians consider Spartacus as hero?

I think that before the movie Spartacus of Stanley Kubrick in 1960 the average Italian didn't even know the name Spartacus. The movie was a great success, many women liked Kirk Douglas and named their son Spartaco, this happened mostly in the area of Rome. In fact nowadays the name Spartaco is a stereotypical name for low class Romans.

history cristallizes things. i dont hold grudges for a man that lived two thousand years ago.

his story is interesting and for a man to do what he did and get 10.000 people to follow him he must have been a charismatic person.

i think most people know of him namewise but i bet not everyone knows what he did.
