Looks like nobody actually read the article, it mentions Slavic-ruled states in Muslim Spain.

People are only aware of the African slave trade for the most part. They forget that other ethnic groups, including native Europeans were once enslaved as well or it's not in their interest to mention it because we need to keep the rethoric of the "evil white man and the poor enslaved person of colour".

A few Slavs who were mercenaries and converted to Islam managed to rule a few principalities (not states). The vast majority were servants, harem concubines, eunuchs, craftsmen and mercenaries. Slavic eunuchs were pretty popular in particular.

The Arabic word to refer to Slavic people during that period was "Ṣaqāliba", which literally translates into "slave" or something like "European slave".

I wonder if much genetic impact (if any) was left.

Too few to mater. And remember, these were Moorish slaves. So any influence would have been removed when the Moors themselves were removed.

Doubt it, as the majority were convert mercenaries/slaves they were expelled during the Reconquista or the Holy Inquisition. R1a is present in Iberia but it is mostly of Germanic stock, with a few expections.

I never said it "matters" in the grand scheme of things, I'm just enquiring as to whether any r1a or i2a dinaric still persists.

I am sorry. What I meant to say is, "not enough to leave a significant impact." My father's is I2a, but I can't say if it comes from any remaining Slavic presence or if it's from earlier (the Visigoths) or even the original inhabitants of Iberia.
