    My criteria for hub for Europe is that the airport has to have direct flights to Madrid and Rome, which Houston doesn't.

    I just checked, and Delta no longer flies between Atlanta and Sydney as it used to do.

    Australia isn't that popular of a destination for people in the US tbh given how isolated that part of the world is.

    I think it'd be more a case of Aussies wanting to come to the US than the reverse...

    Same thing applies to them as well i guess. Thats probably why the route is cancelled in the first place since not many fly in either direction.

    Still, there are more direct flights from Australia to the US than from Australia to Europe.

    What I am surprised by is how Boston, Chicago and Washington don't have that many flights to Latin America, given they are quite international cities with sizable Hispanic populations.
