I am superstitious about cardinals and bluejays.

    Cardinals symbolize truth and steadfastness

Bluejays I usually see when I am feeling low/depressed (rarely)

We have nice birds in the neighborhood but the crows are mean. They make awful noises and bully the other birds. Anybody else dealing with crow issues?

I think reptile is a misnomer since it mostly refects to outside characteristics and not ancestry. By the same logic people (used and still do) use this term, you could turn whales and dolphins into fish. Although technically, by ancestry all the vertebrates would be fish.

The most accepted terms now are synapsid/diapsid.

Well, taxonomists today use the cladistic system than the older taxonomic system from the 18th century. Reptiles today are a cladistic group for all diapsids which also includes Birds. Synapids had split off from the lineage that lead to Reptiles more than 310 million years ago. As for Fish, well, they're a paraphyletic grouping since it includes most of it's descendants except a few like us Tetrapods. But in regards to cladistics then sure, we are fish, though taxonomists use their cladistic names instead of the formal name of grouping called "fish" since it's rarely used today like calling Bony Fish as Osteichthyes instead.
