I haven't met your family so I can't tell. But the only thing that keeps Moroccans going, for now, is the fact that they enjoy special protection from traitors in our own government. Let's hope for them it stays that way because when they don't. They might just find themselves strapped to an airplane seat with weapons pointing at their foreheads one day as they're, en masse, deported from the country (and that, is the most positive scenario). Things have happened here that have earned them such enmity, that I really hope for a reasonable power when our system of government collapses in the future.

I know. But most people here can't tell the difference so it might be a very good idea for people from that particular area to lay low when it happens. If you would be here at that moment: call yourself French. Speak French and if you do speak any of those languages: pretend you don't.

I actually thinks she understands it all too well. You're young, Sissou, and I don't hold it against you but the world of your childhood no longer exists. A lot is going on in Europe right now and feelings are running increasingly high and, yes, with the last spat of terror attacks: things have only just begun and if things were to go wrong the way they did.. in let's say Yugoslavia, than I won't give a single dime for those trapped here.

People's patience has been tested and tested and tested and people can only take so much before they snap and I think Europe (particularly the Low Countries, France, UK, Germany and Sweden) is getting to that point. So when it happens: do yourself a favour and lay low. You look European enough not to be seen as one, so you know how to hide in plain sight and you say you're Christian: good. Good. That's a strong protection there.
