An influx of Jews into Asia Minor and the Ottoman Empire, occurred during the reign of Mehmed the Conquerors's successor, Beyazid II (1481–1512), after the expulsion of the Jews from Spain and Portugal. This expulsion came about as a result of the Alhambra Decree in 1492, declared by the King and Queen of Spain Ferdinand II and Isabelle I. This was part of a larger trend of anti-Semitism resurging throughout Europe that the Ottomans would take advantage of. The Spanish Jews (Sephardic Jews) were allowed to settle in the wealthier cities of the empire, especially in the European provinces (cities such as: Istanbul, Sarajevo, Salonica, Adrianople and Nicopolis.)

All of her known ancestors are from Thessaloniki centre, not villages. She can speak only Turkish and lives in Turkey. Migrated to Turkey with population exchange, together with Turks.

Pre-Inquisition pure Sephardic. Mix of Italic, levantine, some Spanish and probably minor Berber representing the medieval Iberian melting pot.
North African Sephardim typically have more Spanish than East Sephardim (Converso immigration to North Africa that brought more Spanish blood) but also much more Berber so they are generally a bit South Shifted.

East Sephardim rarely have significant amount of Spanish blood. Sephardim started to heavily mix with iberian only post 1492, and those later escaped to North Morocco and Oran; Italy and Western Europe, and not to the Balkans.

There is a Turkish-Moroccan Jewish here with 2% Iberian on 23andme.
