The Chinese regime is getting aggressive in the South China Sea—and the Philippines is worried, especially about the island building. But if the Chinese Navy starts something, would the United States really come to the Philippines' aid and finish it? Secretary of State Mike Pompeo meets with Filipino President Rodrigo Duterte after the Trump-Kim Jong Un North Korea summit in Hanoi, Vietnam.

any chinese attacks on Phillippine commercial/civilian boat/planes in south china sea will trigger the US-Philippine defense treaty.

it goes two-way, if USA is attacked.. Philippines is obligated to fight alongside the USA. ( thats means USA will use the former us military bases in philippines in case of hot war).
