Brazil maybe a homophobic country or a very non-homophobic country, depending on the subject matter.

The majority of the population is catholic with a protestant monority.

Although leftwing groups try all the time to divide the population and instigate hatred between the society (blacks vs whites, gays vs hetero, women vs men), anyone "can be" a rightwing person in here.

Big cities tend to be very accepting towards the LGBT community, but old folks in the countryside may be homophobic... younger generations are more accepting even in the countryside.

Brazil is a christian country, yes! Most Brazilians consider religion as a very important aspect of their lifes

Except from militant left-wingers, that are trying to import the American racialism, Brazilians are not racially oriented, they're class oriented. So Non-White Brazilians can be right-wing yes. Poorer brazilians though usually are dissed by some left-wingers for being right-wing, since in Brazil being right-wing is associated with folks from upper classes.
