What Did People Use Before Toilet Paper?

Leaves? I remember using them once while in an emergency.

But then again not everywhere and not any time of the year you can find them.

Yeah.... If given a choice I think I'll go with the bum-cleaning instrument.

But how does someone find so much to say about it (the bum-cleaner as well as the auxiliary verb)? The mind boggles.
