Palinka is a protected manufacture process and national drink. Unicum is also sold and is popular in tourist shops in larger areas. After the otherwise successful Hungarian revolution in 1848 was crushed by Russian intervention, the Austrians toasted with beer as each member of the leadership (that they were able to capture at least) was executed. There was therefore a stigma against performing cheers with beer and clinking glasses. Though there was a mandate of time when this mourning abstention of cheers was to expire, there are people who still do not do it today. I do not drink beer. However, beer is popular in tour areas and from bottles as always and can be found throughout the country.

Despite the fact Hungary was occupied for a far shorter time by the Nazis and the Arrow Cross vs the communists, the exhibit gives equal time and presentation to each group.

Interesting but the Arrow Cross Party and hungarists (hungarian nazis) were 100% turanist.

Anyone of you knows Hotel Hungaria? It is in Budapest and high quality. I stayed there 1 day/night in 2016. Great service. Great hotel.
