Default The EU Just Destroyed The Internet #Article11 #Article13

Here is your list of people who voted in favour and against it. Print it and match the names to parties and vote accordingly on election day.

Furthermore, I believe the EU, like Carthage, must be destroyed.

The idea of EU is good.
I think the advantages of the EU is being overlooked and the downsides have gained too much traction.

If I was the copyright owner of the "Iron Man" and someone got an influence by using my "Iron Man" content I would be pissed.

A lot of people on the Internet has gained popularity by using Music, Video and other forms of multimedia to influence their companies or themselves without paying a Dime to likes of Marvel, Metallica etc..

In early stages of WWW that was reasonable, but now it's unacceptable.

You want Metallica as background music in your youtube video, pay for the privilege!

These laws cover stuff like this.

I do believe there are some absurd things but there are reasonable ones as well.

EU is not the problem. I remind you that this is the third time (third time the charm ) IP rights holders tried to pass similar legislation in the EU. They failed in the past due to opposition in the parliament, and not because of the public's response (back then the public awareness of these issues was minimal).

If EU didn't exist, you can bet every single European country would have passed this kind of legislation a long time ago - national governments have proven to be very weak when faced with pressure from IP rights holders.

The legislation itself is a huge step backwards, but copyright legislation that extends to online publishers and platforms is necessary. There's also a lot of misinformation. While I sympathize with the characterization of Article 11 as a "link tax", it is nonetheless incorrect, since it explicitly prohibits it - from article 11:
The rights granted to the publishers of press publications under this Directive should have the
same scope as the rights of reproduction and making available to the public provided for in
Directive 2001/29/EC, insofar as online uses by information society service providers are
concerned. They should not extend to acts of hyperlinking when they do not constitute
    communication to the public.
They should also be subject to the same provisions on
exceptions and limitations as those applicable to the rights provided for in Directive
2001/29/EC, including the exception on quotation for purposes such as criticism or review
laid down in Article 5(3)(d) of that Directive.
Why I think calling it a "link tax" is somewhat correct is because the law does not provide protections for text snippets that describe the link. We'll see how that works in practice.

I really dont like covering political topics on this channel but it had to be done. Today the 26/03/2019 in the European Parliament, MEP's voted in favour of #Article13 #Article11 or #Article17 as its become known as. This copyright directive will censor huge amounts of content on the internet. You like Memes? Well guess what? If they contain copyrighted imagery it will be blocked! Article 13 otherwise known as the content filter means that websites like Twitter, YouTube, Facebook and so on will have to apply brand new algorithms to block potential copyrighted content. The EU thinks they're helping artists when all they're doing is making it so that creators like me cant make it on our own as independent creators. Like parody videos? NOPE gone. Like learning and sharing code? GONE! YouTube and Google have said they will block uploads from within the EU and Im not sure whether leaving the EU before the 2 year time limit to implement these new content filters will be enough. I seriously doubt VPN's will be enough. Article 11 the controversial link tax could see search engines and blogs having to pay a link tax to journalistic outlets for having their links advertised there. Wake up and smell the coffee.
