Default Italians and Spaniards are less related than other Europeans to other Europeans

Does this indicate, contrary to what many think, at least in the case of Italian territory, that the slaves of Europe brought by the Romans and the various invaders have contributed very little? Many may believe intuitively in the opposite of the conclusion of this study.

If the Italians really descended in large part from groups of people from various areas, one would expect opposite results and more paternal genetic markers that are typically non-European, but this is not the case. This study seems to indicate, in the Italian case, that the various Germanic peoples, of which the Lombards and the Normans obviously belong, have had very little impact. It also seems to indicate that the impact of Roman slaves originating in the European continent was very marginal.
