Here it's considered normal to eat horse meat. Among the various meats it's the richest of ferrum, and in the past was given as restorative cure to people who had lack of ferrum, anaemia or to patients of the hospitals after surgery.

It's a red meat, very tender, and with almost zero fat, I sometimes buy it, it's usually cooked with a drop of olive oil, garlic and parsley.

I don't know if I would be able to get past the smell.

Beef smells different to mutton. Mutton smells different to pork. Each meat has its own smell. Or am I crazy??

Horse meat has a more sour ardent taste to it compared to beef, that's true. It doesn't smell bad, though. That dog meat was probably just different parts of the animal. I can't recall having liked the smell of any animal feed.

It's true, but I don't perceive particular smells from horse meat

Maybe it also depends from the way the meat is cooked, oil or butter (we don't use butter), spices or not etc.etc.

Yeah, I tried several times in my city there are 2 horse meat butchers. Tastes good. Like 2 weeks ago I even tried horse liver but I didnt like the texture that much. I look forward to travel to Kyrgyzstan to try mare fermented milk and eat other parts of horse I didnt try yet for a cheaper price (because some parts are expensive in France)
