Well, when I think of Australia I picture the stereotypical Texas: deserts, country people...

The vast majority of the population lives on the coasts though so lots of beaches i.e. sun and surf. That's very much the Aussie lifestyle for the majority.

This place is just 5 to 7 mins away from me in the car.






This is the beach closest to me though and about a 10 min walk or a couple of mins away in the car. It's very natural and unspoiled but it's not going to stay that way as they are planning a major development for it. We take our dogs there.

About 85% of California's population lives within 20-25 miles of the Pacific Ocean, including myself. Probably not as extreme as Australia but similar principle. The climate is much cooler and tolerable near the ocean.

We're on the Indian Ocean here in Perth. I'm sure the lifestyles are quite similar. Very hot here at the moment though and yes it does help to live near the ocean. The sea breeze that comes in here is called the Fremantle Doctor.

Ah, I have a friend that lived in Perth for a while. Really liked it. We have similar large yet remote cities here. I'm on the Central Coast which is very mellow, kinda isolated, but probably similar to Australian in many ways. Santa Barbara is our most famous, glamorous city.

We are very isolated here and closer to Bali than Sydney. In fact Bali has the same time zone as Perth.

Very strict since the Port Arthur massacre in 1996. You could not, you need to have a licence, background check, and licences are contingent on being a member of a rifle club etc, which all costs a packet. You're also then regularly checked up on and need to have the gun concealed correctly and so on.

That sucks. You'll probably need them once muds become the majority in Australia. Anyway, i'm glad in America it's written in our constitution and one guy going crazy can't ruin it for millions of people. Here it's not a privilege it's a right.

In the US in most states besides idiot states like California I just walk into a gun store, see what i want, pass a background check, pay and it's mine. Doesn't take 20 minutes most the time if you know exactly what you want.
