Trophy hunting costs a fortune and is done by extremely wealthy people only. And the money from trophy hunting is said to go towards animal conservation. I don't know if the money usually does end up going towards conservation in most cases though. But the issue is not as black and white as one may think. In many cases of trophy hunting (especially lions), killing females and young ones isn't allowed.
