Haven't you kids ever heard of a Hammond vacuum tube electric organ ? The sound was produced by polyhedral iron discs rotating close to the pole pieces of electromagnets and amplified by vacuum tubes.

DIY instruments with midi captors a bit like that,or einzturzende neubauten the german bruitist/industrial/experimental band who build themselves their own instruments and percussions (depeche mode influence on : the broken frame, construction time again, some great reward)

the depeche mode sound of the "live in hamburg" in 1984 is quite amazing for people who like synths, sure it's not the only band but still
the balance bass/main melody/bridge/percussions/sequences is a lesson for many, but i like very much also orchestral manoeuvres in the dark, kraftwerk, neu, tangerine dream, gary numan, new order, art of noise and for quoting a few,art of noise :BIG SAMPLERS!
    remasterized

did you mean the hammond orguan like used by deep purple on this amazing track that is "child in time",best perfomance ever

i think of it's call "psychedelic rock" or "progressive rock" deep purple is one of the best
the balance between instruments is very good

and for speaking of sequenced instruments, let me teach you something ,did you know what's are the first sequenced instrument
    is the barrel organ

Impressive technical specifications, my esteemed man, but can it produce an acceptable high-tech samba pattern sound? Check and mate.

I like acoustic instruments over either, but I think anything by Roland is tops.

Aw, man. It is like choosing a favorite child, fuck, haha. My favorites are probably the Minimoog Model D and Prophet 5, unfortunately I don't have either in physical form (yet!) but I do own many VST emulations. With moog, you can't go wrong with guys like Herbie Hancock, Stevie Wonder, Funkadelic, etc who used analog mono synths in the spiciest of ways.

Honestly though, recently I have been spending more time delving into the world of modular synthesis, I don't have a Eurorack or anything like that yet but a friend turned me unto a software called VCV Rack and I have been spending hours creating patches on there from scratch. I personally enjoy the challenge and more importantly the limitless methods you can use to execute an idea, I can program a patch to play itself, with endless tonal variety. I can sit back and listen to this machine I built play a new sound that I have never heard before, its not some static canned patch saved to a memory bank....I can't buy a PCB for a DSI synth, but you can build essentially any module out there, if I could build my own OB6 I sure as hell would, haha.

    I liked Moog Minimoog!

I am not a fan of Early Electronica music nor of 80s synth-pop either, but as a kid I was a fan of Jean-Michel Jarre and Vangelis. But it has dated badly.
