my doctor told me he doesn't recommend antibiotics as such infections rarely occur and there is no need to take them for prophylactic reasons...and as a matter of fact i didn't have an infection after that. anyway i had stitches so the wound was closed. i went the next day for a final check and it didn't show any signs of a possible infection...otherwise he would have given me antibiotcs.

Not here. Here they aren't used period, it seems. They also had done a lousy job on the wound it seems. Not a bad show for a general hospital.

I had that experience with the breathing. The drug was Percocet. I woke up in the middle of the night short of breath and generally feeling very weird. I literally thought I might be dying, I had never felt that before or since.

They didn't. I had to get them from my general practitioner and pay them out of pocket.

It's my sneaking suspicion that that is how they drive up costs. This in order to increase profits.

    You rang?

The degree of impaction will determine which method of removal is used. They will do an X-ray to see where the teeth are and what the easiest method to get to it is needed.

If is easily accessible a dentist can remove it in the dental chair.

If the teeth are seriously impacted and difficult to reach, especially if there isn't enough space for them to come out and are imbedded in the jaw, then they do it under general anaesthetic. A maxillo-facial surgeon, not a dentist, does the removal because it requires surgery into the jaw bone and skull itself. That degree of facial surgery cannot be performed by a dentist.

For example, take these teeth. You cannot see them from above and there is no way a dentist is going to get in there and simply pull it out. This requires maxillo-facial surgery.
