    мадьяр (magyjar) = [Muha]mad + jār (persian: follower), basically мадьяр = faithful muslim. A typical Turkic origin toponym in these regions, not connected to the Magyar etnonym neither in Kazahstan and the North Caucasus.

    And this was the Magyars wandering in the European steppe based on the archeology:

    =====

    I don't know why do the authors claim that I2a is Cucuteni-Trypillian?

    All of the Cucuteni-Trypillian samples so far were G2a and E, not I2a:

    https://umap.openstreetmap.fr/en/map.../49.449/30.072

    I1926 Trypillian Ukraine
    mtDNA: H5a
    Y-DNA: G2a2b2a

    I1927 Trypillian Ukraine
    mtDNA: H1b
    Y-DNA: G2a2b2a1a1b1a1a1

    I2110 Trypillian Ukraine
    mtDNA: T2b
    Y-DNA: G2a2b2a
    I2a is (together with R1a) the most common in today's Moldova region (northeast Romania, Rep. of Moldova and nearby Ukrainian lands (which were part of historical Moldova). and it overlaps Tripolie culture, who was almost purely Neolithic (genetically, as in "farmer")
