They are tested as part of the action of testing Serbian families from Vrlika area. Results showed that Serbs from that area have about 20% R1a (over 50 samples), and that is higher than both Dalmatian Serb average and national Serb average.

Serbian families from Vrlika area, plus Bitelić and few eastern Drniš villages which are also covered with action because that places are connected with Vrlika in every sense. Most of the tested is from action, plus few individually tested earlier. Conclusion is that Serbs of Vrlika area are mix of settlers in the late 17th century from SW Bosnia when area fell from the Ottoman to Venetian rule and those who lived there during the Ottoman rule in 16th and earlier in 17th century (Mirilovići are most likely present in area since 15th century).

Surprised by the percentage of N Haplogroup in Serb genome. Noticed it’s found exclusively in Bosnia and to a lesser degree in Montenegro.

All N among Serbs (and Montenegrins) is N-FT182494 https://www.yfull.com/tree/N-FT182494/

N-FT182494 is haplogroup of Old Herzegovinian tribes Banjani (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Banjani) and Pivljani https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Piva_(tribe).
In one male skeleton under the stećak from Cernica near Gacko (https://bs.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cernica_(Gacko)) dated at 14-15th century was found N-FT182494. This haplotype outside of Old/East Herzegovina is a result of the migrations of Banjani and Pivljani in Ottoman period. The highest concentration of N-FT182494 among Serbs and in the same time in the world have Serbs from Lika and Bosanska Krajina (7-8%).
N-FT182494 exist among Bosniaks as well - from Cazinska Krajina and to a lesser extent from eastern Bosnia.

^ thanks Varda. Just curious how this Haplogroup arrived in Montenegro? I read that some Turkic tribes settled in Bosnia and it added some % of this Haplogroup?
