Eye color of spaniards.

I've seen 1200 descriptions of french soldiers of spanish ancestry during the Great War (1914-1918). My sources are from publics archives from ancient french algeria. "Oran department" was settled by spanish emigrants during 19th century, almost all were from south eastern Spain (Alicante, Murcia, Almeria, Valencia).

I've included among light eyes, blue gray and light green.

In the first serie of 600. 146 conscripts have light eyes : 24.33%
In the second serie of 600. 196 conscripts have light eyes : 32.66%

So 28,5%.

Light blue : 1
Blue : 14
Gray : 76
Green 12

Total 'light eyes' 103 (32.38%)

Light brown : 2
Chestnut : 51
Brown : 140
Dark brown/black : 22

Total : 'dark eyes' 215 (67.62%)

Results are highter than i thought, probably some "gray eyes" are more light mixed rather than true light eyes. The total of light eyes is probably around 25%.

In North spain light colors are more common than in south, but still brown eyes are the majority in those regions, and in the south and center of Spain there is barely any light eye colors.

Almost all these soldiers have their parents or grand parents from south east Spain. Light eyes are arround 25-30% according to my searchs.

Well, you should go to east Spain and check it for yourself, but i really doubt it's over 8%, even in the best case

There is no almost difference between north and south, and saying they barely exist there is ridicolous.
