Why are slavs so hard to cheer up? Seem so negative

But i can tell you : it's a pretty thing in the east to feel "negative" about the every day of life. Don't ask even why. it's just so.

Because, East Slavs got heavy dose of Chernobyl nuclear waste 1986 that was intended for Ukrainians but jetstream pushed into Russia, the rest of Slavs only little bit exposure still deadly tho.

Why are slavs or eastern europeans more precisely, generally MUCH more reserved and negative, not easy to cheer up at all?

Im currently working at an international company.
During a typical afternoon shift we are only 2 danes out of 30 people. The rest are people from almost every corner in the world.

Latin americans
Africans
Portuguese
Spaniards
Bulgarians
Poles
Romanians
Germans

What i consistently find pretty apparrent and striking is how negative and how little cheerful eastern europeans are. Closed personalities.
They are hard to find a social chemistry with. Hard to come to a laugh together with.
They seem pretty hard at work maintaining a serious facade or something, i don't quite understand it.

I heard this before from other people aswell, especially about Russians, but also again slavs in general.

On the contrary im having an amazing time with latin americans and iberians. Easy to joke with, easy to laugh with. Very sociable and open people.


My question is, what is up with that?
What are you guys experience, have i gotten unlucky with a few rotten apples or what?

I think Eastern Euros experience with Northern and Western Euros mirrors your description. Eastern Euros feel good among themselves or with Southern Euros. There is some cultural incongruency with Western Europe, I'm not sure where it comes from.

I see a pretty clear difference in culture here between western europeans and eastern europeans (GENERALLY SPEAKING)

I think most western europeans, including myself always expects the best from people untill the opposite has shown. In western society, there has been nothing during childhood to fear and NO reason to expect the worst ever.
I think the opposite is probably true for most eastern europeans. Society is build around being closed off, guard up, expect the worst kind of mentality.

Before the Perestroika people used to expect the best from others here too. Well, at least simple people did. These times such people either reform their attitude of die out like dinosaurs. I don't like this change if you ask me.

Eastern euros definitely do well amongst their own people, for sure.

Starting roughly from the 7th century into the midst of the 12th century, Slavic tribes settled in the county of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. To date, town names attest to the Slavic influence. In memory of the Slavic times, constructions on the Slawendorf Neustrelitz were started in November 1994 near the lake Zierker See.

The area of 1.4ha is restricted by a picket fence consisting of about 1400 logs on the land side and by a 200m long wattle fence on the lake side
On site there are numerous differently arranged buildings and shelters that are built in the Slavic style. In our beautiful worship hall, there is a small exhibition where you will find amongst other things a replica of a Slavic boat. To get an overview of the village and enjoy the beautiful view, our visitors can mount the 18m high watchtower.

In the year 2019 Slawendorf Neustrelitz enters its 22th season! Since its opening on 16 May 1998 approximately 626 106 visitors have visited our facility and in the season of 2018 about 18 885 visitors found their way into the Slavic village. The terrain is suitable for the blind and partially sighted and furthermore all entrances are wheelchair accessible and suitable for pushchairs.
After the tour, you can find refreshment at the BBQ where grilled meat, hearty soup and classic lard sandwiches are served. Our delicious bread is baked in a clay oven.
At the entrance of the village you will find disabled toilets, toilets, the village's shop, a kiosk and rustic seating. One of our main attractions is the Slavic boat Nakon, which lies ready for you to take a ride on the lake Zierker See. Children may join in on the paddling to support the joyous ride.
