but there are exceptions. I have worked for a short time with children (both toddlers and kids aged around 8-10 years old). All of them, had of course their own little personalities. Some would brighten my day, others would get on my nerves a lot. I will not lie, I had favourites but I tried my best to never show it. I tried to behave in the same way, with all of them and never discriminate. And yes, as an introvert I always felt kinda awkward to make lots of physical contact. Hugging for example, was never my thing. But when I had to deal with kiddos crying for their mom and dad, I was suddenly put in a situation where I had to comfort them a lot. Patting a 3 years old on the shoulder and telling him: "Don't worry, your parents gonna be back soon", when they just arrived in the morning at the nursery, wasn't going to solve much. Had to get out of my shell and be more talkative, affectionate but also be very creative about strategies to both attract and distract them. Sometimes I felt like a performer on a stage, so to speak. Had to improvise a lot. But also had to be firm and assertive. And of course their needs change with age. Can't expect the same psychological needs from a toddler and a 10 years old. Anyway, at the end of the day, I was getting totally drained and tired. I think children are the closest thing I've met, to "energy vampires"

I've noticed, it really matters from which environment they are coming from. Their family and the education they receive at home counts so, so much.
Many times, when I've dealt with an annoying kid, the parents were even more annoying.
As for having children of my own... I will most probably abstain from it.
