The European Alliance of People and Nations (EAPN) is a coalition of and right-wing parties formed to contest the 2019 European Parliamentary elections[1] and, subsequently, to form a joint group in the European Parliament.
The alliance seeks to "go beyond" the Europe of Nations and Freedom (ENF) parliamentary group.[2] To this extent, it is recruiting parties which have been members of other parliamentary groups, especially the European Conservatives and Reformists (ECR) and the Europe of Freedom and Direct Democracy (EFDD).
The EAPN was announced on 8 April 2019 by Alternative for Germany leader Jörg Meuthen, Italy's Northern League leader Matteo Salvini, the Danish People's Party's Anders Vistisen and the Finns Party's Olli Kotro, during a convention hosted by Salvini in Milan.[1] Subsequently, the Vlaams Belang,[3] the Freedom Party of Austria[4][5] and Slovakia's We Are Family,[6] all three ENF members, announced their intention to join. Also the Conservative People's Party of Estonia did the same.[7] For its part, the French National Rally, another ENF member, just confirmed its existing cooperation with Lega Nord,[8]
