Was Comrade Stalin evil?

I am not sure. I like him, because he was a strong man. And he defeated Hitler and the Nazis, saved the Soviet Union. And he modernised the Soviet union 100 years ahead. The Soviet Union was a superpower only rivaled by the USA. But on the other hand I read he killed many people. What do you think?

Also, keep in mind that one our "allies" was just as bad, Stalin. Historians have estimated that his regime killed 20 million or higher. But Old Joe got a pass since he was an "ally".

Not exactly. As much as we hate communism, it's hard not to have some admiration for Stalin for being one of the most capable rulers in history and turning his poor, backward country into a superpower with nuclear weapons in 30 years. He did kill tens of thousands of people, but many of the deaths were attributable to famine. He killed Trotsky, and encouraged Nationalism to a degree. He wasn't a good person though.

Tens of thousands? You understate Stalin’s hand in the Great Purges and then blame the famines for inflating the death toll, which is untrue. Stalin, Beria and and the NKVD were responsible for millions of deaths and anyone who thinks they’re admirable is of questionable intelligence or education. Stalin was no better than Hitler but benefitted from being aligned with the Allies in WW2. Stalin was a paranoid sociopath that should have no grave or monument.

All communist leaders became dictators and made a lot of disasters. Stalin killed at least 20 millions people, but Mao was no better. About 45 millions died for the brilliant idea of Mao to eradicate the sparrows, because they eat the harvest. Without the sparrows to prey the insects, billions of locusts swarmed on the country eating everything, this caused the Great Famine, where about 45 millions of people died of starvation.
