I agree. Theres alot of ancient samples for general R1a and I2a. That coupled with the ancient samples would be nice to see how we cluster with them, and how they cluster with Iron Age samples and further back.
You have to admit how far its come though. Just 6 years ago they discovered L1029, and now millions with varying clades were found with it. Genetics is making big improvements in short amounts of time.

Yh it was only a few years ago I2a was written as "native Illyrian" on a lot of genetics websites and in a lot of studies, and R1b was seen as indigenous Basque and not PIE; we knew a lot less about the bellbeakers in general.
Oldest medieval sample for I2a1b is 900 AD; we do have a few ancient samples, but they're pretty old and there's a big time gap that still needs to be filled.

Same situation for M458 in general. Oldest L1029 for instance is the sample from Denmark from the 9-10th century. M458 in general has no discovered ancient samples before the 9th century. Even worse, it is believed they practiced Cremation, which would make that more problematic. Heres hoping some poor guy got his head bashed in and was left in a ditch instead of cremating lmao.
I think thats why M458 is generally connected sometimes with Pomeranian culture by people. They practiced heavy cremation. Among other neighboring cultures.
