I'm not negative about Catholics, just Catholicism and the Catholic Church. Catholics themselves are as all people - some good, some bad. My girlfriend is one. However, you cannot deny that Catholics spent around 1,500 years doing their very best to eradicate every non-Catholic belief - Jewish, Pagan, Muslim, Protestant, Bulgar, Cathar, etc - in areas they controlled.

Well - it's nice to hear you don't see all Catholics negatively. I was raised as a Roman Catholic and the culture has always been a part of me even though i'm now atheistic. But yes as you said there are both historical and some present problems within the Catholic church, though the same can be said about other faiths and some to a greater extent than others

Even if the forgiveness you offer is conditional forgiveness. Which actually violates the very meaning of forgiveness at least in my personal understanding of it which should come from the heart since forgiveness is a product of love and true love is unconditional.

But I should humble myself more since I have tendencies to be self-righteous.

Of course. As you will note Selurong delights in pointing out the many failings, real and imagined, of Judaism. I merely point out that all is not rosy with the rosary-fiddlers but he does not respond well to this for some reason.
