The Luschan Scale is based on the skin under the arm (that is how Luschan recorded pigmentation). Its not based on the face or exposed areas because virtually everyone appears somewhat darker (even if minimal) through the influence of the sun or other environmental factors. Even if you don't get much sunlight, exposed areas are still darker.

Very few people are Type I on the face or exposed areas, the only exception being albinos or very depigmentated Nordics, its also sometimes associated with the freckled redhead type. However many Europeans are Type I under the arm, its just that their exposed body parts are slightly darker. This is why Types I + II are usually combined as the ''light type'' (1-12) on pigmentation maps -

I'm Type I under the arm (pale white) but Type II (probably a 7 or 8) on the face and exposed areas, still very light skin, but not milky pale white. I rarely ever have seen Type I in the face, its just sometimes associated with redheads (or of course albinos).

I'm about the same as Type ... under my arm, and a Type I on my face too...
I'm pretty much a monotone skin colour.

My face is type I, but my unexposed areas are, for some odd reason, darker, reaching from type II to early type III. So I think type II is a good description.

What areas? Some areas are generally darker on all people. Genitals are generally darker, while palms are a little lighter on most people(mine are the same colour).

Forearm? Like down by the wrist? I have no idea if that's generally darker(never heard it is), so you might be abnormal. Mine's the same colour at the wrist as it is up my whole arm, with my elbows being this greyish colour.

    That looks like Type II.

    Type I is this -

Milky-pale white, found among some redheads, very depigmentated Nordid types or albinos.
