I did when I married my ex husband. It was nerve wracking. He wasn’t a good father, and made any attempt I tried to do awkward by just treating us, both myself and my stepdaughter, like shit.

I think part of my problem was that I stuck with what I was familiar with; someone who was violent, disrespectful, cared more about self and self’s desires over the family unit.

So, the problem isn’t with family package deals, but whether or not the person prioritizes family. If not, then not for me.

It's too bad you had to go through that. I'm guessing you didn't know any better. Was your home life similar to that growing up? I have a hard time tolerating men who treat their family like that. To me, it's a sign of weakness and immaturity. It's not very difficult to be a good parent if you ask me. If you're worth a damn in life, one likely should strive to have a positive influence on others and to take care of your family. It isn't difficult to take care of your kids, especially if you love them like any parent would.

Yes, sure. Raising kids is quite enjoyable. Chuck a couple more buns in the oven to make it worthwhile while I'm at it.

It is. But it’s also helpful because it rules out a lot of rotten ones

It would be a challenge, because you would have to make an effort to get her child/children to accept you. But if I'm in love with the woman, I wouldn't mind to make the effort, and try to love and take care of her kid/s as if he/she/they were my own.
