Default Eugenics is the way forward

If we are honest with ourselves, most of our problems are due to human nature. But that doesnt mean we're stuck with them. We can remove the genes for things like stupidity and criminal behavior out of the population through gene editing. We can also remove the genes for genetically inherited disorder. Thats all we have to do-we dont have to make people any smarter or more fit.

This alone would make society 100 times better than what it is now. People talk about racial differences in IQ and behavior-well if we treat all races as one and subject them to the same purge then we will all end up being equal. Race will then no longer be an issue.

    What do you think?

Human psychology is more complexed than that, and human nature is fickle.

Removing genes for genetic disorders would be great, but stupidity isn’t mutually exclusive with morality or hubris. I think we’d end up creating something worse.

I happen to believe there is a correlation, but in any case these things should be targeted separately. There are genes that control psychopathy for example.

Is it your supposition that due to gene editing, people will follow the same logical patterns and reach the same conclusions 100% of the time? Do you think that two people with the same “tools” per se but differing drives and differing reasons would release the same effort and output? How far does this gene editing go?

As far as autosomal dominant diseases like huntington's are concerned it is more feasible to eradicate those than the so-called civilization diseases like high blood pressure, obesity, etc, because the latter is dependent on an intricate web of genetic activity not limited solely to one or two genes no matter what dumbed-down myths and generalizations the pharmaceutical industry – that foremost has financial bottom line on mind, not human life – pushes. The human body is like an orchestra where killing the off key playing fagottist is irrelevant in the grand scheme of things especially if the tipsy conductor was at fault all along.
