Yes I have always said to the few Hungarian Turanists who try and spread a lie by saying Hungarians are like Turks , I tell them
in reality by culture the Balkans has much more closer culture to Turkey than does Hungary ... they dont like to hear this but its the truth.
To be clear Im not saying Balkans culture same as Turkey "hell no", but yes there was a lot of things/influences that came from Ottoman occupation.
Im not being critical either , tell you the truth I like Balkan / Turkish foods and certain cultural aspects.

The influence of the Ottoman reign in the Balkans can be felt until this very day in every of the modern countries from the Balkans, from mentality, customs, cuisine. Even in Hungary this influence reaches to a certain level, for example the idea to pay off people for your own interests, blind obedience in a "pater" figure, etc.

It would be smart to distinguish Muslims and Christians in Balkan because first ones keep most of Turkish things. Even many dishes that are "Turkish" are always related to them as source for that, then many archaic Turkish words are today mostly used by them only etc.
