Are Poles Central Europeans, North-East Europeans or they are just East Europeans?

I refer in particular to geographically and phenotypically.

To me they're physiologically and culturally very Eastern European. However, in a firm where I was doing a work placement, a Polish colleague got very offended when I referred to Poles as Eastern Europeans, correcting me by saying they are Central Europeans instead.

Poland and Poles gives me more Eastern European vibe than Central European. North-East Europeans are Finns and Estonians? In any case I they are not like Poles.

In my opinion North-East Europeans are Finns, Estonians, Karelians, Lithuanians, Latvians, Belarusians, Ukrainians (only in terms of phenotypes), Russians (partially geographically and in terms of phenotypes - Baltic, Nordic and Neo-Danubians are North-East phenotypes).

I don't think phenotype = culture. Ones culture is developed by life under certain rules, principles and traditions. Last thing that happened in Eastern Europe was 30 years ago, and still present to a degree in the countries there. Those more exposed to EU shifted more westwards while others still closer to the USSR way of life (naturally with some modifications).
