I feel lost because it always feels like people talk down about women being hypergamous VS men being in love, as they keep idealizing love.

Even in Proverbs, an ideal wife must be calculating and efficient if she’s to fully support her husband. Should she marry for love a man that doesn’t want to work or support the household? Should she trade her surname, youth, and fertility for a man that acts as her child and depends on the sweat of her labor in order to eat? These things have time constraints. Should she pour gas in a tank that has a huge hole with no patch?

Picture an armed conflict between two tribes. What happened to the men and what happened to the women? The men from each tribe fought each other and the losing side of males were killed, often along with their children. The women, however, were kept for mating purposes. Women who pledged eternal allegiance to her tribe, the “I would rather die than sleep with the enemy”-types, were killed. So women developed a certain willingness to (sometimes reluctantly, other times not) mate with the men who killed their husbands, fathers and brothers. This happens even today.

The "highest-quality men" mantra is jut bullshit. I would even say that today the men that mostly reproduce are the lowest quality men, I see a lot of disgusting men with shitty genes are the ones getting children.
