It depends a lot. Some Thai phenotypes look much more South than East Asian shifted but I struggle to see much, if any South Asian influence in most Vietnamese populations

No, SE Asians are far closer to East Asians than South Asians.

Gentically, they are closer to east asians with some south asian influence but some burmese people I guess sort of approach the intermediate/half way mix.

A user from another forum shared this plot below. The more left they are, the more south asian shifted. Cause southeast asia is just mongoloid mostly with some south asian. philippines is an exemption since they have some spanish mix. All other components like east/se asian, austronesians, etc are all "mongoloid". As you can see some burmese samples approach 60% east asian and 40% south asian so they're sort of intermediates but most of them are around 70-30. Cambodians and malays are close as well.

Phenotypically in southeast asia only cambodians, indonesians, and malaysians show noticeable south asian imo. Burmese and thais despite being heavily south asian influenced dont look that south asian shifted to me. probably cause their mongoloid mix is more northern shifted than the former populations. Oh on the plot above, the mongoloid is described on a southern (top) and northern (bottom) cline. The mongoloid among burmese is the most northern shifted among SEAs.

The same applies. But they have a strong Oceanian shift.

A bit more detailed response to this question:

No.They are much closer to east asians as I and others have said but they are not "in between" them either. They fall into their own category. The reason for this is because there are unique admixtures and genetic profiles existing within the subzones of Eurasia, so a place that is located geographically in between two regions is not the average of region 1+region2.

    For example:
West Asians are not intermediate between South Asians and Europeans
Central Asians are not intermediate between Europeans and East Asians or East Asians and West Asians

Southeast Asia has no to very little west Eurasian admixture that is widespread in South Asia. It also does not have as much aboriginal hunter gatherer ancestry.
