There have been times where I literally have thought that my life must be an episode of the Twilight Zone. I'm not even joking. I have been stood up or short-changed like this so many times that I truly wonder how two people inhabit the same space for any appreciable amount of time anymore. I can't even get to the first coffee or cocktail-date, let alone get in a relationship. This is made worse by my non-traditional occupation, so my social life is shit. Even with Meetup, foreign language groups only meet ~ twice a month and you have all the same problems (women being married, in relationships, battling with rival males and cock-blocking girlfriends, etc).Why is it that all the cool women you meet somehow end up going away??

Maybe going off-topic somewhat, but do you think some people are "cursed" with bad luck? My stepdad works in construction and every, single contract of his goes bad. It's unreal how much bad luck that man has. The odds say that you have to succeed at some point, even if it is by accident. Nope, not him. He has such consistent bad luck that you have to wonder whether someone out/up there has it in for him. If there was a bad luck lottery he'd hit the jackpot every time.
I get this sort of impression for you too. I've known you for years and you have such consistently shitty luck with women that it's unreal. And it's not for lack of trying either.
