Default DNA from the Shroud of Turin

I've just watched a documentary on TV about this and apparently preliminary results are similar to modern Israeli and Lebanese Druzes.

Which in such case would prove the authenticity of the Shroud, because Ancient Jews (such as Jesus) could have this autosomal profile.

That's a significant breakthrough. In my opinion, the Shroud of Turin might well be genuine.

Thank god I’m not a Catholic, worshipping some old Jew stained rag.
    Spoiler!

Fake and also blasphemous. True Christians shouldn't need "proof" to cement their faith.

Just "proof" that it was taken from the area.

Can a piece of cloth that is 2000 years old retain usable DNA?

I think you're referring to this study. mtDNA of tens of people was found and one them was H33 which is highest among Druzes but it is still present among Palestinian Christians and even Lebanese. So saying the Jews were similar to Druze based on one sample is not representative of a whole population.

Actually it can, you can obtain DNA even from postal marks.

None of the postal marks are 2000 years old though. That cloth must've been kept in some top notch conditions.

Wasn't the controversy actually about the blood spatter likely from someone standing, so other source(s).
