No, the USA isn't headed for a civil war, unless we're talking about some distant longterm scenario, which is very uncertain. While there's much rage and extreme polarization, the country isn't violently breaking apart; and, I don't foresee a scenario of secession. I do clearly see a failure to communicate, among the people of America.

I don’t see how that can happen. The US military is way too powerful, if any domestic group tries to challenge it, they would get crushed. And the two main political parties in America are really just two sides of the same coin anyway, there is no real left wing in America. Obama got a lot of hate from Republicans but he admitted he's really just a moderate republican.
Plus I think most Americans are too out of shape and live too comfortable to take up arm and rebel.

I agree with this for the most part. Circumstances would have to deteriorate greatly for such a soft people to go to war again. Most people couldn't even watch their food get slaughtered or take a punch. No way are they going to kill and be killed over something as minor as "principle."
That said, it's more than a failure to communicate. Part of the country holds to the America of the past, the real America. The other part either doesn't belong to the real America or wants to change it into something unrecognizably different. There is no reconciliation of these views, and no amount of "dialogue" will settle them. What will, I don't know.
