Italy:south west or south east Europe ethnically?

North Italians are closer to mussolini.
Albanians are closer to getting a visa for Italy.
Greeks are closer to bankruptcy.

Southwest. The Italian regions had little contact with this part of Europe (from the Middle Ages onwards), except for Venice. The culture, genetics, mentality, basically everything is different in Italy than in Southeastern Europe.

I never considered Italians as Eastern Europeans ethnically. Let alone economically or culturally.

going by language (stupid division) southern italian languages/dialects are eastern romance languages (so in the same family as defunct Dalmatian and Romanian ). but I feel its not the best way to divide

And Genoa and Amalfi but this has nothing to do with the fact that Italy is a South Western country. Maritime Republics had economic ties and colonies in the East, nothing more.
