Historically not always true, not even in India. Plenty of groups, particularly in south-central and southeast Asia that go matrilineally. However, it's definitely not true today. If a white man has a kid with a black woman, the child is black. YDNA is irrelevant there. It's also true for most of Europe. A double-digit integer percentage of nearly every ethnic group doesn't have the mainstream YDNA of that group, but yet is part of it, because identity is a lot more fluid than you're intimating.

Imagine if your dad had been French and your mum, Indian. You'd still be seen as Indian by most people in Canada and the US, because that's how whiteness works.

It's also true for half white and half East Asian. Kids always look very East Asian, despite being only 50% EA.

Even if one's name is John Smith? I doubt. Besides half Indians may not look stereotypically Indian. More like vaguely Middle Eastern, swarthy Woggistani.

Lots of non-whites (particularly blacks) with Anglo names and even surnames, loads of mixed race people in major cities too. No one views them as white, despite what their dad might have been

I think neither are as interesting as autosomal results.

Nah that isn't how it works, you'll be viewed based on how you look. If you look racially ambigious or just White or just Black then you'll be judged accordingly. Since your girlfriend is half East Asian and White, do you really think of her as just being full Asian?

It did say stuff about looking Indian which is the inverse of the specific example we're talking about, don't be facaetious.
