Do people not realise that is your child. I just don't understand some people's way of thinking and never will.

I remember an article i read a few years ago about a mother who was told her baby in utero had down syndrome. She was given the option to abort the baby, but she decided to have the baby. Her baby was born completely healthy, no down syndrome. Can you imagine? She must've been so happy! Not just because her baby didn't have down syndrome, but because she didn't have the abortion.

My ex was taking medication that results in serious abnormalities. Initially I was unhappy with the situation. However, after discussing the situation with my own doctor and putting aside the emotional component, I knew it was the right thing to do for all involved.

The others that followed were all about losing "freedom to party" and her unhappiness with changes to her body. Vanity is a strong motivator in some people.

Nine out of ten concerns are completely unfounded.

Allah is the only one who gives life and takes life. Our Prophet Muhammad (S.A:V) says that whoever takes a life, it will be as if he killed all humanity.
It is from Allah that a child is born with a disability. This is a great test for us believers. Allah tests His beloved servants with such tests.

    With salam and pray.

You misquote a Quranic verse for fallacious Islamic apologetic purposes!

    This is the verse:

“That is why We ordained for the Children of Israel that whoever takes a life—unless as a punishment for murder or mischief in the land—it will be as if they killed all of humanity; and whoever saves a life, it will be as if they saved all of humanity.1 ˹Although˺ Our messengers already came to them with clear proofs, many of them still transgressed afterwards through the land.” (surah 5:52 https://quran.com/al-maidah/32)

Firstly, it is addressed to the Children of Israel and not Muslims. Secondly, the interdiction to take a life is not absolute at all, it is conditional, because Muslims must kill people who murder or commit mischief (fitna). And fitna refers to disbelief and a lack of submission to Alla’s Law. If you kill according to all the good reasons there are to kill in Islam, it’s not at all like killing all humanity!

I want my descendants to be strong and emotionally/cognitively healthy. I don't want a cognitively disabled individual that will be an unnecessary burden to me. If that makes me evil/ going to hell; then, I embrace that fate with open arms. It is much more cruel to bring in one's progeny into this world with a mental illness that prevents them from functioning normally. If it was up to nature, that kid would killed off at the start if it wasn't for modern technology.
“The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents. We live on a placid island of ignorance in the midst of black seas of infinity, and it was not meant that we should voyage far. The sciences, each straining in its own direction, have hitherto harmed us little; but some day the piecing together of dissociated knowledge will open up such terrifying vistas of reality, and of our frightful position therein, that we shall either go mad from the revelation or flee from the light into the peace and safety of a new dark age.”

“The greatness of a nation can be judged by how it treats its weakest member”

But you its not about society to begin with, alot of members with such a hostile mindset towards the disabled are purely materialistic and individualistic.

I am glad that I had a father that never ever put his own needs before the needs of his family, he in fact only lived and sacrificed himself for the family, thats a man of honor and dignity.
And it doesnt take to be a father to have that mindset, we in the West lack the mindset of family honor, id never do something id might enjoy that would put my family to shame.
