Morrowind was amazing. Skyrim was good but it never beat Morrowind.

Oblivion is my favourite game of the two, but you are completely spot on here. The world building in that game is probably second-to-none, even now, 17 years on. The other main thing I loved about it that has been lost in subsequent Elder Scrolls games is that you felt like a part of the world, rather than the world revolving entirely around your axis the entire time. Much more immersive.
