I don't know about Rolex per se, but the modern wristwatch was first developed by armies in WWI for tactical reasons. Queen Victoria was one of the first people to wear a wristwatch.

James Bond wore a Rolex before switching to Omega. Didn't the Rolex watch gain fame during Royal Navy divers as well?

I wouldn't wear one, they're too heavy and bulky for the most part. I used to wear a Breitling and a couple Seikos but have worn an Apple watch for the last couple years.

I like Seikos. I have the Seiko pepsi dive watch (too lazy to look up the SKX whatever number), the Seiko field watch that's like a mini-German Fliegeruhr, and the generic battery Seiko gold watch.
