For me, I sing. I am in and out of my car all day for work. I sing the entire time. I am constantly working to perfect my performance of nuanced sections of melody in songs that I like. I'll sing the same piece in different octaves. I'll try to improvise melody over existing melody in a song I am listening to. I think keeping my mind busy like this distracts me, and also keeps the endorphins flowing. I get a serious serotonin high from singing something in a way I find pleasing.

There is no home remedy for depression in my experience that work dramatically.
I've been severely depressed even when i've had perfect diet, using different supplements like extra B12, D-Vitamin, fish-oils and working out 4 times a week.
I think socializing is something that can make a real difference, though.
