Yes due to Stalin, a fucking incompetent buffoon. If it wasnt for him purging all his experienced officers and not heeding all the warnings that the Germans were about to attack, we wouldn't be looking at so many senseless millions dead, something which Russia has still never recovered from. How he could be seen as a hero by anyone is beyond me.

Honestly the Germans would have won that war if it weren't for their own moronic leader. Had Hitler prepared for possible winter warfare, done a direct attack towards Moscow when it was time, not been so hostile towards the slavic population, and not diverted so much manpower and resources to massacring the Yids then they would have easily won.

People often suggest that Hitler ruined the German war effort by undermining his generals (but they don't accompany that notion with the idea that if it weren't for Stalin's interference in Soviet military matters, that modern Germany would today comprise of Schlesweg Holstein with perhaps a dash of Lower Saxony).
