    Default The most important scientists in human history

    I'll start with enlisting 10 favourite scientists.

    1. Nikola Tesla;

    2. Milutin Milankovic;

    3. Albert Einstein;

    4. Galileo Galilei;

    5. Edvin Hubble;

    6. Archimedes;

    7. Stephen Hawking;

    8. Michiu Kaku;

    9. Jovan Cvijic;

    Most of the scientists on my list are astronomers and physicians, but also anthropologist and geologists. After a few posts (if this thread survive), we could make a poll and see who are the most favourite scientists generally .

    1. Aristotle, for being the world's first physicist, biologist, botanist, meteorologist, etc.

    2. Galileo, for having the balls to defy the Papal Fuckheads Inquisition in the name of science.

    3. Newton, for basically creating modern physics and mathematics (and for being a BAMF natural philosopher).

    4. Darwin, for making naturalism tenable.

    5. Einstein, for daring to think about space, time and matter in a that was way outside the box.

    Oh, yes, Isaac Newton, how on Earth I could forget about him ?!

    Not only that he was great physician and mathematician, but also great philosopher with some of the ideas I like very much.

    Maybe the thread title should be "top 10 scientists in human history". Come on people, you lazy asses, we need you, shoooooooot

    1. Tesla- sounds cool. Also, because few know about him.
    2. Einstein- scientist who transcended space and time by creating spacetime, duh.
    3. Newton- I'd been underestimating apple.
    4. Darwin- took age old idea "change is constant" and wrote 500 pages about it.
    5. Mendeleyev- I'm a fan of Au & Ag.

    It's my layman's opinion for what it's worth (nothing).

    Imho: Newton is by far the most important one, Darwin a somewhat distant second.

    I'd also like to propose a surprise contender: Sigmund Freud. Not necessarily because of his own contributions to science, but for having created the foundations of psychotherapy, and for having knocked mankind of its pedestal of rationality and objectivity.

    EDIT:

    One day I'll take all of y'all to task about the whole "Tesla was a superhuman from outer space" thing.
