It depends what they use for happiness index. Life isn't supposed to be rainbows and unicorns all the time especially adult life.They have high standards of living and less corruption which is most important

Well, those countries have a lot of government amenities, good public transportation and affordable universal healthcare coupled with a Northern Euro "Calvinist" work ethic and ability to defer pleasure, coupled with culturally homogeneous populations and large amounts of natural resources which leads to a stable economy and whatnot. I mean, it is not my idea of a good time freezing to death in a tundra, and I prefer people with a little bit more....pasión, romanticism vs pragmatism, but to each their own.

Happiness is probably not the correct word fot it. Maybe more secure. Poor people in places like Finland wont have it so bad as most places.

Living in a country with a slow relaxed pace of life can be happier than the rat race with high standards of living.
